Hi, I'm Mat

My aim is to craft beautifully useful products that keep bringing people together. Use them for your most meaningful moments, to stay present in an increasingly distracted world.

Here you'll find goods you can reuse and repair, thoughtfully designed to tread lightly on the environment, stay away from fads, and avoid overproduction. I'd like to see them used for a long time.

My products

Every product is an original, designed and crafted in my London studio. I consider every detail to ensure legibility and usability while creating pieces that make a visual statement in your space. With my experience spanning information design, digital product design, and print, I hope your experience will be calm, clear, and pleasant.

Right now, I offer elegant and practical calendars for your home and office. Get them through various channels: my online Shop, Etsy, selected retailers, and wholesale.

Timepiece → Mat Cuk

In 2025 I launched this online shop as Timepiece, to emphasise the time-keeping nature of my calendars and planners. However, with my focus shifting to crafted and even handmade goods beyond stationery, I wanted the brand name to reflect this – now all of my products carry my signature.

My background

Working as a product, information, and communication designer, I have spent the past 20+ years supporting global companies such as Spotify, Trainline, Perk and Applied, as well as startups, cultural institutions and charitable organisations in the UK and Slovenia (more on LinkedIn).

With a combination of strategic thinking and thoughtful crafting, I've created digital and physical products you've already used.

Renovating a family home and experiencing the effect a well-considered living space can have on well-being rekindled my passion for hands-on, creative problem-solving and crafting.

I started Mat Cuk Design in 2025 to further focus on creating delightful and useful products, launching Timepiece as my notable project (now under the Mat Cuk brand).

Sustainable:

— design

My studio runs entirely on renewable energy. I try to reduce, reuse, repair, and recycle, and find creative solutions for any waste I generate, if a zero-waste solution isn't feasible.

From materials to manufacturing, I want to keep finding ways to do better. Follow my journey on Instagram to see our latest sustainability innovations and behind-the-scenes glimpses of new designs.

— making

I make my products to reduce stock, therefore minimising the chance of ending up as waste. Depending on the product, they're either made in small batches or made to order.

I work exclusively with suppliers who match my environmental standards, using recycled materials and sustainably sourced paper and wood.

I've been using water-based inks since my early days as a designer, avoiding single-use plastics, while continuously seeking better solutions.

— shipping

I do ship globally. However, as international freight transport accounts for a substantial share of global carbon emissions, I wanted to do it better.

Print-on-demand products, such as my wall planners and calendars, will be printed in one of the print centres around the world (UK, EU, US and Australia), avoiding wasteful shipping journeys.

My small-batch products, such as Griddle, were designed to be small when packed, to reduce their footprint when travelling. I work with my local suppliers in London to make these.

Honest pricing

As consumers, we've grown accustomed to inflated prices just to offer "free shipping" or sudden price drops during events like Black Friday sales.

I have carefully set prices so they make sense year-round. £40 today will get you a high-quality, oak-framed, sustainably designed and printed Squared today and tomorrow.

I don't offer free shipping. When checking out, you'll clearly see how much it costs to deliver your chosen product to your door, to give you confidence that you're not paying more than you need to.
